Ariel

8x10 inch
oil on linen canvas
Commission

This is Ariel, an 18 year old dachshund that is dearly missed by her mom. Thanks Carol for trusting me with your baby. She said the painting is now displayed on her mantle where she can see it every day.
This is one of the many reasons I love painting!

Ollie Otter

5x7 inch
oil on linen canvas

The Chestnut Group is having an art show in October to help raise funds for Radnor Lake, a beautiful local lake with walking trails and lots of wildlife. This was painted from a photo I took of otters playing chase in the lake. They are so fun to watch, but not easy to photograph. I was happy to read they live up to 16 year of age. I hope to visit these critters again soon.

Patches

Oil on linen canvas panel
5x7 inch
Available at Laurel Leaf Gallery

I have been working on a couple of dog commissions, which I love.  I wanted to paint something fast and loose, so I picked my favorite subject and so enjoyed the patchwork of colors on this Hereford calf.  I bought a new small brush, which is not good for me. I want to use it to get in small details and before you know it 2 hours have gone by and my nerves are on edge. :)

Harley

8x10 inch
oil on cradled canvas
Commission

This was a commissioned painting of a doggie that loved running, swimming and always had a tennis ball around him. He was very loving, friendly and such a happy dog and always wanted to be around people. Thanks, Amy! I loved painting Harley's sweet face.
I hope the painting brings back wonderful memories for your mom.

The Chicks

Oil on linen canvas.

Started these little chicks a while back and put them on my to do list today. I am always drawn to barnyard babies. I am preparing for an art show the first weekend in August, so that means lots of framing and decisions of what to take. I also worked on packaging my cow note cards today, I am super excited to share them with you. I think I will do a giveaway for a package of them. I don't have the photo of them yet, but if you want to go ahead and leave a comment I will put you in the drawing.

Blink of an Eye

Oil on linen canvas panel
8x8 inch

I started this painting while vacationing at the beach. Each vacation I realize how much my boys have grown and how much it seems like they should still be this size. The title seemed obvious for the way this painting evokes the emotion of how fast time goes. I was thinking while sitting on the beach how I hope our boys share their little ones with us on vacations like so many grandparents we were around.
Savor each moment. :)

Plein Air Study—Tybee Island

4x6 inch oil on linen panel
Available in my Etsy Shop

We are back from Tybee Island, Georgia! I had a wonderful time painting plein air right outside on our balcony while the boys were still sleeping. The first couple of days the tropical storm Debby brought rain and wind to the island. Though my boys were not happy, this gave us a great opportunity to visit Savannah. I LOVE Savannah!! We took the trolley tour and I was able to get lots of photos of the beautiful old homes. I will share more plein air and photos tomorrow.

I did forget to share before I left that I was facebook artist of the week on EBSQ. :)
Have a great week!
