6x6 inch oil on board
This has been a busy workshop week, and I am having the time of my life. Tuesday I painted with fine art artist,
Kevin Menck. Kevin has been a friend since I was a graphic artist years ago, and he is the one who encouraged me to make a blog and paint. His work is incredible, and watching him paint with a number #1 hogbristle brush was mind blowing. He taught us the importance of values and temperature in a painting, and said as long as you have that right you will have a great base for a painting. All the extra edge work and brushwork is frosting on the cake. He uses a limited palette of cadmium lemon, cadmium scarlet, ultramarine blue and titanium white. (sometimes adds cobalt blue in sky) Amazing how he uses the colors to work such magic. It turned out to be a rainy day, but we were able to paint on the porch at the
Leiper's Creek Gallery in Leiper's Fork. I have another plein air workshop tomorrow, so I hope to post again tomorrow. :) (Be sure and visit Kevin's blog! )
