Baby Corgi-Original oil by Carol DeMumbrum

6"x6" oil on raymar canvas panel
$40 on sale in my Etsy shop!!
SOLD

This little puppy stole my heart and I had to paint him. I have been making a to do list for the new year and starting to clear out my studio of things not used. I figure I will organize a while and paint a while. As soon as I get my studio clean it is dirty again. I pull out frames, pictures, etc. and don't seem to put them back. I guess I can't really say anything to my kids - if I'm doing the same thing.

English Toy Spaniel Commission painting

I'm working on this commission of "Pal" a sweet puppy who passed this year, and is greatly missed by his family. I am not sure about the background yet, but kind of like the watercolor effect. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'm a Little Teapot

Details in painting and in life often bog me down, but I admit sometimes I really enjoy them. I guess it's finding that perfect balance. I think with a still life painting it is easy to get caught up in details, so I have been trying to stay loose and quick.

This week my artist of inspiration is JoaquĆn Sorolla.

Avocado Study-Original oil painting by Carol DeMumbrum

This was going to be a sliced avocado, but opened it to find a very mushy brown avocado. I don't know much about them, but it did not look like the color of the beautiful paintings I see on blogs. I added some magnolia leaves and grapes to liven it up a bit. I think this would look great in an old world style frame.

$50 -  $90 if you purchase the pomegrante also with free shipping in the US.  I'm in the Christmas spirit. :)  Soli Deo Gloria

Pomegranate Study-Original oil painting by Carol DeMumbrum

Decided I wanted to try and paint faster and looser. Really not easy to put a brushstroke down and not mess with it. I have an avocado friend I'm working on to go with this one.

"Play Time"- Dog portrait by Carol DeMumbrum

So many wonderful titles were submitted and the boys had a very hard time deciding. I gave them a list of titles without any names listed, and they chose (drum roll) "Play Time", suggested by  Kathy D. Through the power of facebook we just recently came in contact with Kathy, and realized she is married to my father-in-law's first cousin, who he has not seen since he was a child. Very cool!! Thanks everyone for your wonderful ideas, we all had lots of fun.

My birthday is Sunday, so I am celebrating by giving away a "moments in time" card set, as seen on my blog, plus a print of your choice of a painting from my blog. All you need to do is leave a comment of what you think this painting should be titled, and my boys will vote on what they think best suits this sweet puppy. (Please enter your suggestion by December 8th)

Story behind this doggie. We were in Breckenridge, Colorado (beautiful town) walking around the area when we came upon this guy. We were not sure who he belonged to, and he continued to walk with us and took us to his mom who was a gardener of the area. He wanted to play so badly, so she picked up a stick and threw it in the water and he retrieved it like a good labrador retriever. I was so glad to catch this photo op.
