This was painted from a photo taken last year at a dog costume contest.  One of two Great Danes dressed up like bumble bees. They even had feather wings!! I painted with a black base, which I have only done a couple of times. I really like the depth and the different look it gives to a painting. I am getting in the groove for  a doggie commission painting, so look for more pet portraits in the near future.

"An Apple a Day"

My grandmother lived to 98 and she ate an apple a day, so I'm trying to make this a tradition in our family.  I love Gala apples and soon became caught up with the many colors and markings on this one. I also really enjoyed continuing the design of the placemat around the sides of the canvas. The best thing about this kind of canvas is you don't have to have a frame!! I still like linen canvas the best, but I might experiment more with the gallery wrapped canvas.

Holiday SALE!!!

Last weekend we had a party at our home, so I wanted to decorate as much as possible for fall. I really wanted to share my daily paintings, so I had the best time going around placing them in different places. I'm such a visual person and have to see how something looks before I decide if it is in the right place.  Hopefully these will spark a decorating idea in your own home (I call them Martha moments). To me they are continual reminders of the colorful blessings around us.

EBSQ Patron's Choice-Still Life with Lemon by Carol DeMumbrum

I recently entered the ebsq exhibit "Still Life with Lemon" and received the Patron's Choice. I must have had the same feeling I felt in fifth grade when I received a blue ribbon in one of our art contests. It is so fun to enter the exhibits on ebsq, but even more fun to have patrons and members vote for your art. "Fall Colors"

The beautiful Labor day weekend put me in the mood for fall.  I love the beautiful flowers of the summer, but I also love the colors of fall. This was painted from a photo I took last year on the golf course, which was once my family's farm.  I have lots of fond memories riding my pony across this area to get to our dairy barn.
