"Reflection of Hospitality"

This was another painted from a beautiful challenge photo on Lee Brown's blog— A Day Not Waisted. It was cropped from a larger photo, so much to decide on in the photo. I would like to paint the wine bottle in another painting someday. I read the other day when I painting looks 80% complete you should stop painting — very hard to do!!

"Mystical Willow"

This was for the virtual paintout challenge this month from the Czech Republic.  This willow was in a zoo while touring the streets. I was instantly drawn to the colors and movement in this beautiful corner of the lake. I probably went a little overboard while painting while listening to music, but had lots of fun. Be sure and check out Bill's blog —so much fun!! Thanks for visiting!

SOLD-"Southern Charm"

It was a cool/overcast day yesterday, so it was a great day to be outside and not get too hot. This was painted on Claessen's Belgian Linen-Single Oil Primed RayMar panel. I love the softness of it and how the  paint goes on so smoothly. I purchased a sample pack to try it out, and I am now a fan. I think I will be purchasing more, it is a little more expensive but I really enjoyed painting on it.

Daisy Study

Has been pretty rainy here lately, so I thought I would brighten the day with a daisy. Congratulations to all my blogger friends that are competing in the Daily Painters. com competition!!! Be sure and go to the site and vote for your favorite. I think you can even vote more than once and for more than one person.

"Free at Last"

Titling a painting is one of the best parts of painting a painting for me. I decided I would let you guys help with the fun. You have until May 25th to leave your suggestions in the comments on my blog or facebook page (you can connect to facebook on the sidebar of page). The winner will win a set of notecards with this little butterfly.

The winner of the butterfly notecards was Lori with "Free at Last". I had my husband decide because the names were all so good I could not decide. Thanks to Kelley, Carol  &  Lori  for your suggestions—Kelley, Butterflies will Remain— Carol,  Lady Liberty— Lori,  Free at Last.

This was another challenge painting for James Parker's blog Windows to the Words . Please check out all the beautiful butterflies painted by fellow bloggers.

My purchase of the week— Gamblin oils, Radiant Magenta & Radiant Yellow and also a #8 Monarch Bright brush.
LOVE them all (used the magenta for the underpainting)!!

Yachts at Brightlingsea copy after Edward Seago

Available- $85 (email me if interested)

Studying and copying the masters is a big help in seeing their palette and how they put down the paint. It is  hard for me to be as loose as this painting is. I love how the boats in the distance are just dabs of color- trying to squint and paint shapes. I am currently working on a painting using the same palette, but it is in the teenage stage—aurg.

Studio Shelves

This has been a very hard week for the people of Tennessee. The state was flooded after 13 inches of rain fell in a two day period—many lost their homes and I believe 20 lost their lives.  I wanted to share something that brought me joy this week since it has been a very sad week. I purchased these little shelves from Ballard Designs to display some of my artwork in my studio. :) Would love to hear creative ways you display and store your work.  Have a blessed day!!
