This was painted from a beautiful challenge photo on Lee Brown's blog— A Day Not Waisted. 
Lee has amazing photos for each month's challenge. This month he shares info on a Photoshop plugin called Topaz Simplify for Digital Simplification—I looked and there is a free trial.  The sad thing for me is my computer is too old for it. :(  I think a visit to Santa might be in order. :)

"Unto the Hills"

I painted outside!! This is a view of our front porch looking out onto hills that used to be part of my family's farm. I used to go to the top of this hill and have picnics as a child —I always dreamed of building a house there. I feel so blessed to have such inspirational surroundings. I hope to share more of my surroundings with you in the near future.

"Dreaming of Florence"

Another virtual vacation—this time to Florence, Italy. I so long to go there. I am currently reading Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting a book recommended to Carol Marine, as mentioned on her blog. I have not yet read the chapter on color as you can see—I tend to get carried away with color—love it! I do recommend this book—I am taking notes as I read, so much information I want to read my notes over and over so it hopefully sinks in.

" All Dressed Up"

I  have kind of been jumping around on what subject matter I am painting. A lot depends on what I am in the mood to paint. I am trying to find my niche and figure out where I feel the most comfortable. I love painting everything, so it makes it hard to stick to one subject. I like the colors in this painting—actually they are the colors in my den/kitchen.
