"Don't Fence Me In"

I keep being drawn to painting animals. I think I will go back and touch up some places on this, or maybe I should leave it. The hardest thing for me is to be loose and not overwork things. I would like to try and paint looser. I am so inspired by other paintings that are very simple and you can tell done quickly. Thanks my friends for your inspiration!

"The Rose"

Wanted to post something this morning, so I am cheating with a painting I painted a couple of years ago.
I do like that it is loose and not messed with a lot. I am in a valentines day mood, so look for more flowers in the near future. I think I am mostly tired of the rainy dreary weather outside. I hope you have a bright cheery day!

"La Maison"

A home in Barrettali, Northern Corsica, France. This was another beautiful view from google street view. I have really enjoyed my virtual vacation. :) I think I will spend one more day in Corsica. Just submitted my paintings on "the virtual paintout" blog that is run by artist Bill Guffey. Be sure and check out the amazing artwork on Bill's blog—http://virtualpaintout.blogspot.com

"Mountains of Corsica"

I wanted to paint a landscape, so this was a picture taken in Corsica France on Google Streets. If you have not tried Google streets before you should. I felt like I had been on vacation after touring France by street view. I was painting this for a painting challenge, but I'm not real happy with it so I have started working on a painting of a house in Corsica. I am now a fan of Corsica—so beautiful!

"Birds of a Feather"

I often see geese fly over my house in the V formation, and while painting this picture I was thinking about the reason they fly that way. First, I read they fly that way to conserve their energy. Each bird flies slightly above the bird in front of him, resulting in a reduction of wind resistance. The birds take turns being in the front, falling back when they get tired. In this way, the geese can fly for a long time before they must stop for rest. The second benefit to the V formation is that it is easy to keep track of every bird in the group. Flying in formation assists with the communication and coordination within the group. Wow, sounds like they have a very good system of working and taking care of one another.

Birds of a feather do flock together. I am so thankful for the network of artist who through their blogs encourage and help one another. There is so much awesome artwork and information available—very inspiring. Thanks to all my friends and family who continue to inspire me everyday through their love and friendship!

"Why the Sad Face?"

I have been practicing painting puppies. In fifth grade I won an art contest in my class, and it was a painting of a puppy. I think that was the day I decided I wanted to be an artist. :) I have always been drawn to painting and drawing God's beautiful critters. I'm currently looking at local animal shelters to give to when I have commissioned paintings of pets.

This painting was given to the Arizona basset hound rescue for a silent auction.
